Hi,

I have a Problem. I have searched a lot in the Internet but i havent found any solution. I hope u can help.

I have installed Visual Studio 2008 with the SP1.

After that I have installed VisualSVN. All is working.

After that I have installed GhostDoc and now i have the problem that when i start the first time Visual Studio 2008 I become the error:

Package Load Failure

Package 'GhostDoc' has failed to load properly ( GUID = {F646EA44-FEB2-4168-802A-80C9B64BB8BB}). Please contact package vendor for asssistance. Application restart is recommended, due to the possible environment corruption. Would you like to disable loading this package in the future? You may use 'devenv /resetskippkgs' to re-enable package loading.

Hello,

Can you please enable GhostDoc logging:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SubMain\GhostDoc]
"LoggingEnabled"="true"

Then reproduce the issue, open Event Viewer and look for "GhostDoc" entries. If you find any please post them here.

Also, please send us:

- log file (usually at "c:\Program Files\SubMain\GhostDoc\GhostDoc.Install.log")
- export from registry and send us HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Packages\{f646ea44-feb2-4168-802a-80c9b64bb8bb} key

Have you installed Visual Studio SDK recently?

Do you have [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0Exp or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0Exp keys in the registry?

What else Add-ins (you can find them in Tools -> Add-in Manager) and VSIP packages (you can them by Help->About->Copy Info) you have installed?

But the exception is too common and we would ask you to do the following:

- please backup and delete GhostDoc configuration file (<My Documents>\SubMain\GhostDoc\Configuration.gdc)

- then, ensure that GhostDoc logging is turned on:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SubMain\GhostDoc]
"LoggingEnabled"="true"

- run Visual Studio, repro the issue and then look for the GhostDoc items in the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Application tab

We had problems with Sandcastle and I think now there is a problem with VisualSVN.

Hi,

First, sorry for no writing back, but I had a lot of work to do...

I dont have any Information in the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Application tab

but I think i have found the Problem: I had some Problems with the installation of windows sdk, there is a problem with mapped folders. ("My Documents" is mapped). When i tests without mapped folder i can install the windows sdk and I can run GHOSTDOC!!!! But unfortunally the networkadmin will remap my folders. That was only for a test. Is that possible that this was the Solution? Can u check this?

I don't see a problem with the My Documents being mapped.

Perhaps a dumb question - do you have write permissions for the mapped My Documents folder?

Yes, I have write permissions. But its strange, that Ghostdoc runs with the local testuser and not with the network user. Maybe its nevertheless a problem with visual SVN?

 I dont know. Fact is that GhostDoc runs with the local user, and dont run with my normal user...

GhostDoc is Visual Studio add-in and it always runs with Visual Studio user. If you will be able to run Visual Studio with normal user, GhostDoc will run with that user as well.

Visual Studio runs with both user properly. Only GhostDoc dosent run with my network user. Maybe i dont understand you??

I have found something new. In my local testuser a folder named SubMain/GhostDoc is created in "My Documents".

With my normally User, where the Folder "My Documents" is mapped. The Folder SubMain/GhostDoc dont exists!?! It seems that GhostDoc has Problems to write in that folder....  But i habe normally Permissions...  Visual Studio Settings are also written in "My Documets" and Visual Studio doesent have any Problems.....

GhostDoc setup is per-user and not per machine. It uses CURRENT_USER registry during setup.
In order to use it under normal user you should setup GhostDoc under normal user.

I have installed GohstDoc with my normal user. The test user is come a lot of time later. and i dont have installed ghostdoc with the testuser, but it works.

As a workaround, try to copy SubMain/GhostDoc/Configuration.gdc file from testuser "My Documents" to normal user "My Documents". It should help.
