    Foreign dictionaries

    Hi:

I have noticed that several foreign dictionaries are included in the current setup. How do I change the default dictionary to use, for instance, Spanish?

    Hi Martin,

To change dictionary to Spanish you want to edit all rules under the Spelling category (there are two currently - "Identifiers should be spelled correctly" and "Comments should be spelled correctly") in your profile. Change rule property Dictionary to the language of your preference.

    Please see the screenshot attached.

    Thank you!

    Serge:

Okay, I didn't have the Spelling category in my rules. I have added the 2 new rules and I'll give it a try.

Thanks, once again for your help.

    Re: Foreign dictionaries

    Serge:

I have configured CIR to use the dictionary I require, but the option is unusable. The process takes far, far too long.

If I analyize a project with some 30 files it takes about a minute without the dictionary, but 36 minutes with the spell checking!!

Is this normal, or is this option still under development?

    Re: Foreign dictionaries

    Martin,

This was our very first version of the spell checker and spelling rules. We are still working and improving both. We already have modified the rules to only find spelling violations and only populate spelling suggestions when you click the correction options dropdown. This will speed up spelling rules significantly. Will be available in next version.

Meanwhile, you can speed it up a little by setting the identifier spelling rule dictionary to English (if your identifiers are in English). Alternatively, you can create a separate profile only with the spelling rules and run it separately and less frequently from your other profiles.

Another workaround includes modification of Spanish dictionary that will improve performance by only finding misspellings but you would not get any spelling suggestions in this case. This workaround is a hack of sorts. Let me know if you are interested to know more about this workaround or would be willing to wait for the next version update.

    Thank you,
