Bug & Solution Suggestion: CodeIt.Right In Add-in Manager

Bug & Solution Suggestion: CodeIt.Right In Add-in Manager

During my CodeIt.Right trial VS 2008 would crash, and crash hard, if I tried to run Altova UModel 2010 EE as an Add-in while CodeIt.Right was running.  UModel could be disabled via the VS Add-in Manager so I was able to finish the CodeIt.Right trial.

It is highly sub-optimal to not be able to use UModel in VS.  I never had problems with it before installing CodeIt.Right.  ISTM the best solution is to have CodeIt.Right's loading controlled by the Add-in Manager.  In the interim any hack is fine to not have CodeIt.Right running in VS 2008:  A registry rename, moving a DLL to another folder, whatever.  I don't want to do the Deinstall/Reinstall dance with CodeIt.Right unless there is no other way.

     Thanks.

Re: Bug & Solution Suggestion: CodeIt.Right In Add-in Manager

Humm....  I see GhostDoc no longer appears in Add-in Manager either.  To me this is not good.  Usually my development environment is stable, but occasionally things go wrong and it is useful to be able to quickly turn off Add-ins while troubleshooting.

Another major reason why I like being able to quickly disable Add-ins is that I mentor beginning programmers in our company.  As a rule they do not have all the Add-ins that I have, and some of my Add-ins (like ReSharper) change VS's menus quite a bit.  It is beneficial for me to be able to have the same VS environment that my mentees do and Add-in Manager is a quick and easy way to do this.

Please seriously consider supporting the Add-in Manager paradigm with all your VS tools.  I would really appreciate it!   Big Smile

    Thanks.

Re: Bug & Solution Suggestion: CodeIt.Right In Add-in Manager

    Mark,

We are already working and adding the option to turn CodeIt.Right extension off in the Add-In Manager. This will be available in the next public build.

We added similar option on the GhostDoc to do list.

(This is not a bug actually as both CodeIt.Right and GhostDoc are not Add-Ins but VS Extension Packages and they are not registered in the Add-In Manager)

    Thanks!

    Thank you,
