Unable to install when my Windows user does not have rights to Program Files (x86)

I am trying to install GhostDoc to see what it is like but I cannot get it to show up in Visual Studio (2012) under extensions.  The installer seems to run through fine, but nothing appears in VS.

The  contents of the GhostDoc.log file show an error:

     (02/11/2016 10:56:31) : Information: CopyExtensionToVisualStudioFolder 2012...
    (02/11/2016 10:56:35) : Error: CopyDirectory:

I do not have admin rights on this PC, so I don't have write access to c:\Program Files (x86).

All other extensions install under C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\Extensions\ and have no problems with rights.

Is there a way to manually install it?  I have tried copying a few things in there, but can't seem to get anything to show up in VS.

    Hello,

Yes, GhostDoc setup requires admin permissions to install the extension. Your other extensions may be the VSIX type.

How did you get a copy of the VS on your computer if you have no admin permissions? Was it "imaged" by your IT?

    Thanks!

Re: Unable to install when my Windows user does not have rights to Program Files (x86)

Yes, the PC was imaged by our IT department and is fairly locked down by developer PC standards.  We are allowed to install our own stuff as long as it will install without needing admin rights.  Hence I can run the GhostDoc installer by changing the default path to something other than Program Files (x86), but it has problems with the VS step.

Is there any way to install it more manually in my scenario or would it have to be a case of getting IT to install it?

Re: Unable to install when my Windows user does not have rights to Program Files (x86)

You would have someone with admin permissions install it for you. In which case, I recommend looking at the GhostDoc Enterprise edition for your IT is not eligible to install the free version of GhostDoc.

    Thanks!
