Cannot register GhostDoc Pro on VS2017

Clean install of VS2017, added GhostDoc Pro from Extension Manager, there is no 'Enter Registration Code' in menu anymore.  Tried to download and use the vsix with exactly the same result.

Really incredibly frustrated as I've wasted a huge amount of time, it shouldn't be so hard to enter a license key.

    Hello Craig,

From the feedback form that you have sent us within the product, I see that you installed the free Community edition hence is no menu for the license code.

Please install the Pro version from here - http://submain.com/download/ghostdoc/pro/registered/

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Thanks!

Re: Cannot register GhostDoc Pro on VS2017

On the contrary, I went to http://submain.com/download/ghostdoc/pro/, and clicked the link in the shoutout box on the right-hand side of the page, which is the link you've just sent.  That downloaded a zip file 'GhostDocPro_v5.5.zip' the readme.txt said the following:

"To use as Visual Studio 2017 Plugin please install the

    - GhostDoc {edition}.v{version}.VS2017.Extension.vsix"

Which I did, which produced the following message:"This extension is already installed to all applicable products."

    Still no menu item.

Re: Cannot register GhostDoc Pro on VS2017

    Craig,

That message is from VS installing the VSIX and it only means that one of the editions is installed (the Community in your case).

You will need to remove the 'GhostDoc'  in VS Extensions and Updates, then install the Pro VSIX you downloaded.

Again, my apologies for the confusion, the VBSIX installer is not as advanced as MSI (in fact it is basically slightly more intelligent x-copy deployment) and we are working with Microsoft on how VSIX can provide better messaging when different editions of the same product installed.

    Thanks!

Re: Cannot register GhostDoc Pro on VS2017

Thanks for the clarification, uninstalling and reinstalling worked, though can I suggest as a bare minimum you update the Readme.txt to indicate that you have to uninstall the extension to re-add as it's entirely unobvious?

As honest feedback, I'm not sure why two versions exist anyway, as the non-pro version still shows all the pro menu items as links to your website.  All the confusion does is disadvantage legitimate registered users, surely it would be better to have just one version as you have an activation system anyway?  Certainly, it's put me off buying a license again in future, and I've had GhostDoc licenses for years.
