Add-in could not be loaded

    Add-in could not be loaded

    Today, pressing the GhostDoc shortcut greats me with the following message:

    ////////////
    The Add-in supporting this command could not be loaded. Do you wish to remove the command?

    If you choose yes, you can re-create the command by reinstalling the Add-in.
    ////////////

    I did an uninstall / reinstall but the issue persists (the GhostDoc screen for setting the command does appear when VS launches). Any ideas or steps to try?

    Thanks,

    Seth Rowe

    Re: Add-in could not be loaded

    Update:

    Apparently the addon /is/ loaded, as the right click -> Document This works just fine. Visual Studio just doesn't appear to like the command shortcut.

    Re: Add-in could not be loaded

    Hi Seth,

    Did you uninstall the old (Weigelt) version of GhostDoc before you installed new (SubMain) version the first time? (Older version of SubMain setup was only detecting and warning to uninstall v2.1.3, fixed late last week and detects all old versions now)

    What was the version of the Weigelt add-in you had previously?

    When you go to Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Keyboard and filter for "ghost", do you see commands for both SubMain and Weigelt versions?

    Is it the Tools.SubMain.GhostDoc.DocumentThis command that is assigned shortcut "Ctrl+Shift+D (Text Editor)"?

    Thanks!

    Re: Add-in could not be loaded

    Hi Serge,

    I did have the v2.1.3 version of WeigeIt installed, and I did uninstall it prior to running the SubMain installer (I remember the uninstall as it removed my settings like you warned me :-)).

    Going through the keyboard bindings, Ctrl+Shift+d was still bound to the WeigeIt version, removing it fixes the problem. I'm guessing this happened when I restored my VS settings from the backup?

    Anyways, sorry for the late reply, and thanks again for the great help!

    Thank you, Seth! This was very helpful. I got to remember about "restore settings" caveat that it also restores the old GhostDoc key binding.
