I am running Vista Business 32 bit, and VS 2008. I uninstalled ghostdoc 2.1.3, which wiped my VS settings. Then I installed ghostdoc 2.1.5. During the uninstall and 2.1.5 install, I had been accidentally starting VS in safemode. Then I started without safemode, and ghostdoc tried to finish the install. It gave an error, which forced me to skip the hot key setup, and it does not appear in the Tools menu. Reinstalling has no effect. SonicFileFinder is in the tools menu and working fine though.

Hi Jim,

Can you please open Visual Studio Help -> About and see if GhostDoc is listed there?

Do you by any chance have Experimental Hive or may be VS SDK installed?

Also you can try and see if "devenv.exe /setup" helps.

What if you dont see even in the help about list. I just installed 2.5.09166 version. What can I do???

Did you try to run "devenv.exe /setup"?

Which version of VS d you use? What locale (is it non-English)?

Do  you have Visual Studio SDK installed? Does HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0Exp key exist in the registry?

What is the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\8.0\Packages\{f646ea44-feb2-4168-802a-80c9b64bb8bb} ?

Can you attach your c:\Program Files\SubMain\GhostDoc\GhostDoc.Install.log file?

Hi, I had the same problem with the following environment:

• Vista Ultimate (32bit)
• Visual Studio 2005 (with service pack)
  
• GhostDoc v2.5.09116

The installed gave the same error regarding hotkey assign and nothing appeared to tools or context menu. GhostDoc was shown in About window.

 I solved the problem by installing Visual Studio SDK 4.0 and reinstalled GhostDoc. Everything seems to work correctly now.
