• Re: Sharing CodeIt.Right Rulesets

This is great. Yes, when you get a chance to play with CodeIt.Right, please let us know how like the tool, how it's is working out in your team environment and most importantly what you don't like about it and what it lacks.

  • Re: Sharing CodeIt.Right Rulesets

Hi John, With the current Beta build you can create new profile and tweak rules to your team needs, save it. Profiles are XML files stored as "My Documents\SubMain\CodeIt.Right for VS200{3 or 5}\Profiles\{Profile Name}.profile.xml". Copy the profile file to the same directory on other developer machines and make sure they select ...

  • Re: How to specifiy naming convention for fields and constants

We are targeting late July for the Beta 2 but the date is not written in stone. We want Beta 2 to be feature complete. No longer then 3 months for sure.

Hi Christian, Yes, we are going to add new Rule that will allow to replace legacy prefixes to the new ones (please see my comment above)

  • Re: How to specifiy naming convention for fields and constants

Hi Christian, What Misha posted above is a way to tweak existing rules and create your own profile. Based on your post I see that you want to replace existing (legacy) prefixes with new ones. CIR naming rules that we have right now force prefixes. We don't have yet the rule that will replace legacy prefixes and suffixes although it is ...

  • Re: exclude a scope

You are right it's tricky when your field is both private and static in the scenario you described. I don't have solution off the top of my head but I will this by the other dev team folks this week and get back to you. Thank you for the feedback!

  • Re: Edit a profile doesn't save

Hi Jurgen, This very much sounds like the issue we had in one of the earlier Beta 1 builds. What is the version of CodeIt.Right you have installed? If it is older than the currently available 1.0.07100, can you please update the software and see if the problem is still there?

  • Re: Commercial Use

Hi Klaus, You are free to use our Coding Guidelines in full or any part of it for your company internal means as long as you don't sell your guidelines document or distribute it for publicly (free of commercially). Also please feel free to take a look at our CodeIt.Right product which is designed to help and enforce guidelines and best ...

  • Re: False positives?

Hi Brett, This is great suggestion, thank you! And thank you for bringing this up. We had something along these lines in mind and were planning to do a research how widely if FxCop/VS Code Analysis adopted within the dev community to determine how high this'd be on our list. We maintain CodeIt.Right/FxCop rule mapping list ...

  • Re: False positives?

Yes, we were thinking about using the attributes to exclude certain rules. It is still on our list - got pushed down the list as one of our initial goals was to not require users to modify code for CodeIt.Right. It is very helpful you bring this up - we are happy to revisit this. The way we would have it is very similar to what you are ...
